Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Palmerston Road In Kilburn

A Memory of Kilburn.

I was brought up in Kilburn in the 1960's. Our flat was 29a Palmerston Road. Our garden looked onto Grange Park and we just about lived there. My memories of that time were so happy. We went on holiday to Ireland and returned to find our road blocked and were told that the houses were falling down. We had to use a plank to get into our window and pick up as much as we could in a short period of time. The neighbours were so shocked but what I remember vividly are the kindness of the people on that road. We moved to Abbey Road estate but it was never the same. Grange road saturday morning pictures and kingsgate road fish and chip shop (the best) Mazenod school.happy happy times.

Did anybody know Valerie krasnuik? This is my mother and she was in this area in 1960. She met my father, a Greek Cypriot and I was born in jan1961.

My family lived at Number 36 Palmerston Road (the slums of Kilburn) from around 1955. we too had to move to Abbey Road I hated the estate, we were the O'Neills.
While you were on holiday, Donna s mum ( so I was told) left the old gas cooker on in a basement flat.I am not sure what number it was, but the family were OK, they were from the West Indies,a very nice family,most of the street was Irish including my parents. The houses on the street were slums but we Children still loved our home and park. After the gas blew up the first house, slowly all the houses started to crumble,the dominos effect chain reaction.

Oh that is so funny. Did you have a Pat in your family. I am sure you will know us. We were the Mcdonagh's. Margaret and 3 brothers John, Stephen and Noel. We hated Abbey Road as well but my memories of Palmerston Road were so happy. Think the number that caused the explosion was 25. So you probably knew the o'sheas and the Walshe's Linda and Jennifer? Diana, I probably did know you. We moved into Palmerston when I was six months old in 1960. I live in Ireland now and my mother passed away in 2009 from Cancer. She wanted to come back to live in Ireland so we packed up and came with her, she was so happy.

Hi Maria, I don't remember you by name but then I'm not good at names. We lived in 36 Palmerston road, Katleen, Diane and Angie O'neill. No, we didn't have a Pat in the family. I remember the Walshe's Linda amd Jennifer, we were great friends with them. Living in Palmerston road was like living with an extended family, everybody looked out for each other. Happy days and very fond memories. Sorry for your loss. X

Hi guys my mum lived in Dyne Road, her name is Teresa or tessa herbert aka as Herbie, I wonder if anyone knew her when she was a wee lass....she is still alive and approaching 70 so I am trying to build a this is your life thing for her.....

My mum and dad ran the Cabin Cafe in Palmerston rd for a coule of years in the early 60's and we lived above . l remember women in housecoats and headscarves , others with rollers in their hair, scrubing doorsteps so they gleamed. Also young irish guys in Burton suits on a sunday looking so smart with their Brillcreamed hair. We made go-carts from orange boxes and old prams and raced them at the entrance downhill into Grange park.

A very long shot here but I am trying to trace my Birth Mother who I believe lived in Palmerston Road in the 1950's. Her name was Sheila MacDonnell though she may have later married and became Sheila Stivadoros.

I would be very grateful if anyone could give me any information about Sheila or any of her relatives. I was born as Stephen MacDonnell. Many thanks.

Hi. My great grandmother and family lived at 27 Palmerston Road, Kilburn. Although she died in 1944 and my grandmother moved to Australia in 1929, I would loved to know anything about the area. I was able to visit Palmerston Road in 2019 but of course the house she lived in has gone now. Thank you for any descriptions of what it was like. My family’s name was Barnes.
