In the late 19th century this area of Norfolk Street offered such delights as Mrs Elizabeth Cockerill, china, glass and earthenware dealer, Plowright & Pratt (extreme right), ironmongers by appointment to the Prince of Wales, who sold iron bars, rods, hoops and sheets, the Singer Sewing Machine Manufacturing Company, and John Devonshire (fourth shop from the left), fishmonger, mineral water manufacturer and fish manure dealer!
