The Prince Of Wales

A Memory of Kingsbury.

I lived in the Prince of Wales as Mum & Dad were the managers and we had a corgi named Sandy and two boxers, Maxie and Susie who enjoyed the big garden at the back. This was the last years of school and I think we were there until the early 70's maybe 71 or 72. There was a large dancehall at the back with 'dances' on a Friday and Sunday night with a live band and then this room changed to being The Bandwagon disco. Happy memories.

My Dad worked at the Prince of Wales, he was the manager there for a while. I have a picture of me with two big Alsation dogs that were the pubs guard dogs in the pub garden. I went to several dances there in the sixties - Bert Jansch played there in a folk club, but it didn't catch on.
Oh my goodness, I remember the two Alsatian she. The day Mum and Dad took over we waited in the kitchen upstairs for something and the two alsations came in. We had a corgi at that time and he bravely walked up the them, had a sniff and returned to Mum and myself. So we obviously moved in after you. How amazing!
Prince Of Wales gone now
Met My luverly wife Helen there on her 17 th birthday . I used to go there on one or two days a week good fun and nice people .
I was a musician at the time , I had a band called THE RANDY BAND . we used to tour top rank and mecca , we also used to play once a month at the Plough Kenton . let me know if you remember ,
i would also like to get in touch with an old friend Ray Cahoon . seems so long ago now . sad.
How come its not there anymore?
Charlotte Munroe : It was demolished in about 2004 I think. I don't think it was doing much business. It was replaced by a Tesco Express and flats above it. Not quite as characteristic I would suggest!!
