More about this scene
The gabled, timber-framed building is Chester House, which has functioned as a library since its restoration in 1975. It is the oldest existing building on the High Street, the earliest part of it dating from around 1400. In its time it has been a farm, a carrier's business and an antique shop. It was first called Chester House in 1881.
