Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

When his second wife Jessie died, Lord Ashton, son of James Williamson, decided to erect a monument to her. The Taj-Mahal of Lancaster, it rises 220ft to dominate the highest spot over the city; its green copper domed roof stands out for miles. Work started in 1907, and the monument was complete in 1909. The Memorial fell into disrepair in the 1970s; restoration work started in 1984, and the Memorial re-opened to the public on 22 May 1987.

Canal Fishing By Storeys Mill
Many will remenber this was the area for catching roach, canal fishing. They lay on the top and sun bathed waiting for you I believe it was due to the fact that Storeys, which is the building on the right, discharged into the canal and the fish loved it. Not only roach buut nice bream, perch etc and they were large fish as food was no object. Sometimes you could not tempt them they were too full up. Regards Frank

Incense Dilemma Day
used to be an altar boy Nearly set fire to altar using incense for first time Canon pick up the charcoal off the carpet with his cassock. Frightening at the time. regards Frank

On The Way To The Cathedral School

I still see the journey from my home in Morecambe to start my senior school years. First the bus from my home on Regent Road to the Midland Hotel. Then, across to the station for the train to Green Ayre station. From there a walk past Wareing and Gillow furniture store where I had planned to buy when I grew up! Mostly I would pass by grisly Dr Ruxtons then uphill to school where I did my GCEs before moving to the new Our Lady’s High School across Skerton bridge.

10 Dalton Square Now Where The Town Hall Is Located
My Great Great Grandmother Jane Oversby worked for a widow, Mrs Margaret Rossall, who lived at 10 Dalton Square, Lancaster. I visited Dalton Square and counted the houses from 2 - 9; then sent down the other side Numbers 11 onward. I could not find 10 Dalton Square until a local person told me that the Town Hall is not as old as it looks. It was built at the beginning of the 20th ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
