More about this scene
Standing on what was once a Roman site, the first manor house was erected in 1176 by William de Erleigh, whose family remained in possession for some 350 years. Perhaps its most famous occupant was Edward IV's brother, the Duke of Clarence, who drowned in a vat of malmsey. Somerton Court is now a hotel and reception venue.
