More about this scene
In 1887 the Guildhall and the adjoining properties were purchased and restored by Sir Cuthbert Quilter of Bawdsey Manor, who was also MP for the Sudbury Division. In 1944 the Lavenham Preservation Committee was formed to preserve Lavenham's buildings, especially the Guildhall. In 1951 the Quilter family and the Committee vested the property in the National Trust, who maintain it today.
