More about this scene

This was built as a much smaller cottage in 1653, and rebuilt in the 1870s by Robert Wilson. He thatched many of the buildings, but over time most have reverted to slate roofs - this is one of the few still thatched. The name comes from a local poem which tells of three young women who were so picky about would-be husbands that they ended up as The Three Old Maids of Lee.
