Leeds, St John's Church Interior 1897

More about this scene
The interior is unusual, being in the form of two naves, rather than nave and aisle. The 17th-century box pews were irreparably damaged in the 'restoration' of the 1860s by Norman Shaw, when they were cut down. However, the beautiful old screen, with its elaborate strapwork crowns, was retained. On the left is the two-decker pulpit and tester.
