More about this scene

Leintwardine straddles an ancient Roman settlement, Bravinium, along Watling Street, (not to be confused with the better known Watling Street that leads from London to Wroxeter). The church in the centre of the village sits on Roman earthworks and Roman tiles and bricks have been discovered beneath the chancel.
