The co-op run by Mr Foster the stalwart organist at sugley church, Mr glass at the maydew dairy and his daughter. Elswick bakery on the corner, Miss hemingway the hairdresser and the "Nit" nurse Miss smith who was another stalwart of lemington. Mr arkless who repaired our shoes and joyce brown who sold beautiful ham, westlakes sweet shop and also the london and newcastle tea company. Spences and fullertons fish shop, I used to walk out of my house directly into school where the caretaker for absolutely years was Mr Moody, teachers were Mr robertson and Mr carr (headteachers) and the one not to mess with was Miss Cundell!!!!!!., I. will write some more soon

Comments & Feedback

Dear Geoff, just read your latest comments I was wondering if you have bumped into old school pals on your travels around Lemington, cheers Andrew Gunn aka BEN Gun.
Hi Geoffrey, a Facebook group 'Lemington and Newburn Pit Village Past', https://www.facebook.com/groups/1241638782946518 has approx 1000 photos of Lemington and surroundings. E.g photos of the Co-op, Mr Foster the Organist, Maydews, The Tea Company shop etc. If you joined the group I am sure you would meet some old friends.
