More about this scene
Just a couple of miles from Haywards Heath railway station is the attractive and ancient village of Lindfield, named after the lime (or linden) trees which flank the village High Street. Though it is not apparent in this photograph, the Common was (and still is) used for variety of sporting activities, football and cricket being particularly popular. The Common is much appreciated by the local residents.
