Childhood Memories
A Memory of Littlehampton.
We came to Littlehampton in the Summers of 1957-61. We stayed at Mrs Squires B n B in Albert Road. I spent my time either on the beach, the fun fair or just walking around the town (I was about 8 years old at the time). My dad and I played on the Putting Green/Crazy Golf on West Green, when did this close?. I remember a speedboat called Miss Littlehampton and a severe gale one night which almost blew the Helter Skelter in to the River Arun. We also fished from Baltic Wharf. I remember the shopping Arcade in the High Street and the Railway Station being constructed entirely out of timber. The was also a Hall on West Green where Variety shows took place. I've spent a couple of holidays here in the last year, the promenade/beach are much the same but the town itself has changed considerably (not for the better)
