More about this scene
This was the site of a Celtic monastery founded by St Dochdwy or Dochau, the name by which St Cyngar was better known. The present church is of the 19th century, but in the churchyard is a highly-decorated cross of the early 9th century. Although ravaged by the weather, the cross has an interlaced pattern of ropework, below which are varied sculptures, including a horse-rider.
