More about this scene

The Welshpool and Llanfair Railway still chuffs its way along the eight-mile narrow gauge line between the two towns. It used to be a bona fide railway, but today it only runs in the summer season as an attraction for tourists. It opened in 1903 to link the local farming communities to the market town of Welshpool.  Its narrow gauge of 2 foot 6 inches allowed the trains to negotiate tight curves and steep gradients.
