Childhood Memory Of The 1960 S

A Memory of Llanfair Talhaiarn.

My Grandparents Wilfred and Dinah Newton ran the Black Lion pub in the 1960s, I believe, although I do not remember going there. But what I do remember as a 3 or 4 year old is going for a walk with my grandfather and him showing me the water running down a hidden stream in the street. He lifted up a round wooden lid and there was the water rushing by. This probably no longer exists and is hidden by tarmac. Does anyone out there have photos of this?
They had a lovely white stonewashed cottage, I believe outside of the village, that had a steep garden. As a young child this was a magical place. It did not have a bathroom and having a tin bath wash next to the roaring fire was at times a bit chilly. But, these memories have stuck with me all my life and as a 60 year old woman I have a yearning to visit the past to see these places.
Finding the pub, The Black Lion, was easy, but I have no idea how to find the cottage that they owned or rented. Does anyone out there know?
Diana
