More about this scene
Picturesque Llanidloes was famous for its wool and flannel industries from the 16th to the 19th centuries. In the later 19th century its population grew with the development of the lead smelting industry, which processed ore from the local Van and Bryn lead mines. The half-timbered old market hall was constructed in the early 1600s, and is unique in that it is the only such hall in Wales still standing on its original site.
