More about this scene
Picturesque Llansteffan, on a high bluff fronting the sea, was a favourite subject for the Romantic painters. It was built by the Normans in the 12th century to control the mouth of the River Towy. Various members of the de Camville family altered and enlarged the castle, and at one point it was owned by Jasper Tudor, nephew of Henry VII.
