More about this scene
It is not difficult to see why the grassy inner ward of this formidable castle became one of the picnic destinations of Rudolf Hess. The Nazi Deputy Fuhrer was a prisoner at Maindiff Court Hospital from June 1942 to October 1945. On his excursions with his guards he became a familiar figure to local people.
