More about this scene
Nash's great early 19th century urban scheme, his 'Royal Mile', led north to terminate in Regents Park. The Prince Regent, later George IV, was Nash's patron, and the park was formed from Marylebone Park, which had reverted to the Crown in 1811. Nash surrounded it with grand terraces of houses and laid out the bones of the park, including the lake. This view looks into the lake's north-west arm. The kiosk has now been replaced by the 1980s Boat House café.
