More about this scene
This is taken from the north end of the Green, looking south towards Hall Street, showing the wide expanse of the Green, where fairs are still held. On the left is the 19th-century red brick Tudor-style gatehouse to Melford Hall. Behind are the pinnacles of the octagonal Tudor summerhouse in the corner of the Hall gardens. The group of trees was felled in 1979 as a result of Dutch elm disease.
