More about this scene
The Abbey of St Benet-at-Holm was founded in 1020 AD by King Canute. It survived the dissolution of the monasteries, but Henry VIII transferred its income and its Abbot, William Rugge, to the see of Norwich. The Bishop of Norwich is still Abbot of St Benet's and holds a service at the abbey each August, arriving in a procession of boats.
