More about this scene
Lyme's co-educational Secondary School for 125 pupils opened in 1923. Its cabins were in keeping with the basic military hut- like look of so many institutions built during the First World War and afterwards. The school was in Hill Road, between Pound Road and West Hill Road, with a view across the town, including St Michael's Church (centre right), to Golden Cap (centre) on the eastern seaboard of Lyme Bay. The headmaster, S L Watton of Cranbrook in View Road, transferred to the new Lyme Regis Grammar School - now the Woodroffe School - when it opened above Uplyme Road in 1931.
