More about this scene
Here we see landslipped Langmoor Gardens (left) before the building of retaining walls and amusement arcades. Telegraph poles carry the wires from Cobb hamlet to the town, which begins at the Bay Private Hotel (centre). This picture clearly shows the split- level look of the Walk, as it was known until Edwardian times, with the Cart Road being the lower terrace from Cobb Gate to the sands beside the Cobb. They have yet to be joined. The Cart Road was widened after severe storm damage in February and September 1974. The high sea wall dates from 1880.
