More about this scene
This photograph shows Marine Parade and its beach- tents, between Langmoor Gardens (top left) and the 1922-built Bay Private Hotel (centre). The remainder of Lyme's seafront continues to Cobb Gate and Church Cliffs (right). This spot, and Lyme generally, was obviously favoured by families with young children. The town's population, at the 1931 census, was only 2,620.
