More about this scene
The paddle-steamer is not approaching the Cobb wall on a busy day. Services in Lyme Bay were reinstated for a short time after a break during the Great War, from Weymouth via West Bay on summer Tuesdays and Thursdays, and went on to Seaton, Sidmouth and Torquay. Then, in 1925, Cosens & Company discontinued the route, because 'these days visitors to Weymuth are unwilling to get up early in the morning'.
