More about this scene
Ships from South Wales carrying lime and coal were once regular visitors to the town. Paddle steamers from Bristol anchored out in the bay bringing trippers to enjoy the breezy heights of Lynton and Countisbury. Along the street in the picture was a special bath house, as well as a number of new hotels and lodgings.
