Mablethorpe, The Sands 1890

More about this scene
This is an archive photograph all right: few of these buildings remain, partly as a result of the tragic floods of 1953 when the sea burst through the sea walls. These have now been rebuilt as mighty ramparts, and you cannot see the sea from the streets of Mablethorpe. The resort developed after the railway arrived in 1877, although that has now gone and the motor vehicle clogs its streets.
