More about this scene

This great house near Fowey was the seat of the Rashleigh family. It was surrounded by its own wooded grounds, leading down to the sea at Polridmouth Bay. Daphne du Maurier lived here between 1943 and 1967, and the house was the inspiration for her novels 'Rebecca' and 'The King's General'.

A Selection of Memories from Menabilly

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Menabilly

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

Does anyone have any information about a girl being accused of murder of her new-born baby and hung at Bodmin in 1828? I am writing a book about her. She worked on the Menabilly estate. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
