The horse and cart are approaching the old packhorse bridge, which was later to be by-passed by a new road bridge. Just up the hill is the Dartmoor Inn, and on the skyline is the rocky mass of Great Staple Tor, one of the southernmost outliers of the plateau of the north moor.
