More about this scene

St Leonard`s dates back to at least 1183 and it was largely rebuilt in 1414 and 1524. Its wooden steeple was added in 1709 and it is a rare and distinctive feature. Dominating the town, the Grade I listed church is in a conservation area. We view it here from Jubilee Park, which opened on 6 July 1889. Its exedra (a columned seating recess) and fountain were designed by Edgar Wood.
