The market cross, similar to the one at Bungay, housed the stocks until the 19th century. The local Petty Sessions, empowered to place people in the stocks, sat in the nearby Bell Inn, which can be seen in photograph No M75059, below. Remington's stationer's and newsagent's is now part of a national chain.
