More about this scene
The crossroads at Milnthorpe was well known to motorists travelling to Scotland or the Lake District on the A6 before the advent of the M6 motorway. Milnthorpe had been an important stopping place for north or south- bound traffic since the 18th century, and there were numerous coaching inns along the main road.
