More about this scene

This village got its name because it was once part of the endowment of Tavistock Abbey. Since the Reformation, the land hereabouts has been owned by the dukes of Bedford. The church - St Constantine's - is named after a Cornish king, who was something of a rogue before his conversion to Christianity. The view is unchanged today, save for a surfaced road and much more traffic.
