Jiffing

A Memory of Mobberley.

My name is Frank Wilson and I too have good and bad memories of Mobberley Boys School. I was sent there in 1971 due to being expelled from 3 schools. My fondest memory was jiffing (smoking) in the yard at dinner time, right under the noses of Tommy Tucker and Benny Hill. I was in Carpenter house, Frankie Maffs cat meat pie was another fond memory. Anyone reading this will know what I am referring to, if they to was there in 1971. If you remember me then please email on frankwilson.wilson5@gmail.com I would love to recount great days and great memories.

I was in mobberly around 1975 6 7 .I was in russle house
I was in carpenter from 1970 to 73. Hated every single minute of the place. Staff were bullies, especially fatty Howell. Got the cane off Mr Evans for absconding (did it loads of times) the longest time i was on the run was 3 weeks, the shortest being 3 hours when the coppers caught me in Knutsford. I was in decorating with Mr Fallon and then with Mr John in engineering. Teacher was either Mr Woolcott when i could be arsed (the clever boys class) or usually Mr Sutton who really did not give a shit if you learned or not. Bullying was really bad in the school I had my fair share of crap.
I paid plenty of it back in subtle ways. Pinching sports kit/personal clothing and binning them tipping water in beds during the day so they had a wet bed to go to at night. Hiding projects and work in metalwork so they would have to do it again. My favourite was altering the lathe settings so they fucked up their work.
Anyone remember the stupid shaming ceremonies Tommy Tucker used to have when 'fining' people for lost kit? You had to pay to replace stuff like toothbrushes, combs, ties, daps ect, ect.
Sorry bullies that was me too!! glad to get the hell out of there and unlike some i have nothing but bad memories of the place.
