Bruntcliffe School

A Memory of Morley.

In 1962 I started as a first year in the New Secondary school on Bruntcliffe Lane.
The Headteacher was Mr Standeven and the Headmistress Mrs Mawson. Mr Peel was Deputy Head. I was Erica Norgate and my friend at school was Janet Talbot. Others that I can remember are Steven Todd, Peter Draper, Chris Reekie, Edwina Speight, Helen Billyard, Pat Sykes, Beverley Barraclough and Maureen Bennett. Lovely memories of growing up in Morley.
My Mum had the fish and chip shop at the side of Morley Market.
I went as a 15 year old to Morley Town Hall dances and was a member of Mount Pleasant Youth group where I attained the Duke of Edinburghs award along with about another 20 girls.
The names I can remember are Christine Brown, Julie Reekie, Christine (her Dad was an Undertaker) Jayne Ruecroft, Janice Sharpe, Janet Talbot, Elaine Foster. Happy days

Hello Erica, I remember those good times too, happy days indeed. The youth club and the dances at the town hall etc. etc. I hope you have had a happy life, I don't quite know where all the years have gone. Still feel as young inside as did then. Best wishes Janet Talbot (as was)

Janet, I have only just seen your reply to my comments. I have been trying to find you for years. I haven't moved out of Yorkshire, but moved North out of West. All well with me and I hope you are too. If you are on Facebook you can find me on there. Best wishes Erica
