More about this scene
The vast parish of Morwenstow's most famous Rector was Robert Stephen Hawker, incumbent from 1834-75. He was also a poet and songwriter and wrote 'The Song of the Western Men', Cornwall's national song. The Bush Inn, half a mile from the church, still stands, but now has a slate roof after the thatch was destroyed in a fire in 1968.
