Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Please Note: Our offices and factory are now closed until Monday 5th January when we will be pleased to deal with any queries that have arisen during the holiday period.

Remembering

A Memory of Mossley.

I was brought up in Mossley and have lots of happy memories. My sister Dot still lives there, she fills me in on what is going on.  I now live in Florida but will always be a part of Mossley which I took so much for granted while living there.  I have travelled to a lot of places and countries since I left there but believe me there is nowhere quite like Mossley, it is a lovely place to see.  I show people over here photos and they all say it looks nice.  I had a lot of good friends there.  I went to All Saints C of E, left school in 1959, started work at Astalls foundry then went to the Brunswick mill for a while.  Both parents were born in Mossley so we really belong there.  No matter where I go I will never forget it or my life and friends who are still there, so if anyone wants to get in touch my e mail is pete010@adelphia.net.  I will keep checking back now and then and hope someone else writes here.   It is a good idea, will write some more later..  Pete Brooks

Hi Pete, John Sutton here, I lived on Manchester Road Mossley, did you live next door. My mum worked at Brunswick mill.
Hi I worked at a.foundry on Egmont street in the mid 80s Astalls it was called. I was a.moulder and we made saddles for north west water. I was a junior moulding apprentice and I remember Alan and a couple of lads Martin and a guy with curly hair who taught me well. Sorry for forgetting your name! Great memories of an era gone.
I worked in the same foundry. My name is dale Thomas. I remember Martin and John Mc cann worked there too,. The foreman with the curly hair was called Jim and he had a good sideline in homemade £1 coins. A women called irene and another guy called crop worked in the fettling shop. Tom Astall the owner was a bit of an arsehole and some relic from the mill owning classes. I was into Punk at the time and fucked the job off to go to gigs and get pissed. That was no place for a young person to be, or anyone else for that matter; smokey, dirty and dangerous. x
