Nafferton
A Memory of Nafferton.
I remember my maternal grandad,Clarence E Wilson leading the procession through the street playing the bass drum in the band.He was also the village postman delivering to the farms around Nafferton .
Our families lost loved ones ... of whom I have no memory
.Like many my lovely grandparents rarely spoke of the war so I am sharing this poem that I have written It tells how the survivors are affected .
REMEMBER THEM
As we remember those who died
remember those who live
with memories of war and death
from which they cannot hide .
Remember those with shattered mind,
who fought the wars to bring us peace
who had to leave their comrades behind.
THEY ,the ones who do survive
have family and friends
who love and care for them
from day to day to keep them alive .
REMEMBER THEM
