Standing just beyond Hospital Street, and therefore originally outside the town, this building also survived the fire. A carved inscription on the front of the building tells us that at the time of the fire it had just been built (some six years previously in 1577) for a wealthy merchant named Rychard Churche and his wife, Margerye, by Thomas Clease, the carpenter.
