Naseby is famous for its Civil War battle of 1645 between King Charles I and the Parliamentarians, with Sir Thomas Fairfax as Commander-in-Chief and Oliver Cromwell as Lieutenant-General of the Horse. More than likely, Cromwell stabled his horses in the church. The monument in the picture is one of two such memorials which recall a significant event in Naseby's history.
