More about this scene
This rural scene shows the church of St Thomas the Apostle. The belfry, built in an interesting style found in several Essex churches, has a sloping tiled roof placed between the various stages of the tower. This is surmounted by a spire. The earliest parts of the building date from the 11th and 12th centuries.
