Nether Alderley, Old Mill c.1955

More about this scene
This is the mill in its derelict state before John Shelmardine presented it to the National Trust, and Dr Cyril Bouchier of UMIST started restoring the mill machinery to working order. The mill is unusual in that it has one water wheel above the other, so the mill increases the power it gets from the same water before it flows away under the A34 to the fields beyond St Mary`s church. Inside on the walls are carved the initials of many of the millers, including the last from the 1930s, John Rawlins.
