Happy Days In Rosington
A Memory of New Rossington.
I was born in Rossington in 1952 and lived on Clay Flat Lane with my mum and dadTo & MAry Atkinson, brother John and sister Paula. Dad worked in Rosso pit for many years, like a lot of Rosso residents. Myearliest memory is from when i was about 3 years old, i grabbed a garden spade, which was twice as big as me, and dragged it down the road, dad was intrigued as to what i was doing and followed me, i was going to nana and grandad Horney in allenby cresecent to help grandad with his garden. He had a wonderful garden and a really massive greenhouse where he grew his Black Hamburgh grapes and tomatoes. They were lovely always picking some to eat right up to my late teens!! Spent many an hour helping grandad with his grapes, his chrysanthemums that he grew, rows and rows of the, Loved it there. We used to stay over on a weekend and had our chores given to us when we arrived, by the age of about 7 my chore was to empty the gusunders on a morning!!!! Sundays we all got toether to clean all the brasses! So many memories spring to mind, but i will be here for hours if i carry on. So many happy times xx
