Newark On Trent, Balderton Gate c.1955

More about this scene
Balderton Gate is the next turning south-east off Cartergate. Here we have a glimpse of the 237 feet high spire of St Mary Magdalene's. The rendered gable on the right belongs to the Imperial Hall, now the Imperial Snooker Club and Lightning Jack's Nite Club. The painted advertisement extolling the virtues of Robb's pork pies and sausages (left) can still be put to the test, as Robb's is still in the same shop.
