Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. More about this scene

Newhaven developed as the 'new town' after the River Ouse shifted its mouth in 1579. The mouth was stabilised in 1733, and there were great plans for the port. By the 1880s, it was the sixth most important port in the country. The promise has never been truly fulfilled. This cheerful scene shows the old town, little of which still stands, with awnings and pot plants and an intriguing advertisement for Tit-Bits.

Terriers At Newhaven Harbour
In the late 1960's we spent many days ( and nights) fishing off the west side harbour arm. Much to my delight there were two railway lines running along for a good length for a good way out. There were still lots of signs of all the other tracking in the area and leading up to the main line. Evelyn Ave
I too lived in Evelyn Ave at No51 my Grandparents house. Also I was born in Evelyn Ave in the midwifes house. After 74 yrs I am unable to remember the number (in the 40s I think). I went to school at Meeching Primary. David Jones

Piddinghoe

My name was Susan Penfold and I grew up in a small house on Evelyn Avenue in Newhaven. My mother's mother was one of seventeen children born in Piddinghoe. I used to visit my grandmother's home and aunt Tops, auntie Else and uncle Pearce were kind to me. As a child they would give me home made cake and parsnip wine. The Newhaven Dieppe Ferry In 1960
Pinner Grammar School had an exchange programme for students in Annecy and every year a party of 4th and 5th Forners travelled to France on the Newhaven to Dieppe Ferry. When I was in the fourth form I joined the school party which was very exciting as I had never previously travelled abroad. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
