Newick is situated halfway between two great Christian centres of worship - Canterbury and Winchester - so the village was used as a resting-place for pilgrims. A range of different building styles is seen in the picture, including the Bull Inn, whose sign stands on the green in front.

Newick 1950's Village Of Character With Its Share Of Characters.
The 1955 photos reflect a time well remembered by myself and many of the following will be recalled by old 'locals'. N90085. Home to Arthur Schlater and Norwegian wife. Not widely known is that he ran the Shetland Bus during WW2. N90020 Note the diamond concrete road surface suppo.sedly laid to accommodate the tracked vehicles of Maresfield camp. The Creasey Family Of Newick, Sussex
Although I have never seen Newick, I am attracted to the village for two reasons: firstly the photographs look appealing, and secondly I have family roots there. I believe that the village church in Newick is where Edward Creasey married Mary Mackarell in 1668. Thats makes them my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents!

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
