The Village 1909 A handsome farm cart stands in the yard of a timber-framed two-storey building, in this small hamlet on the road between Tenterden and Hythe. Close by are the ruined walls of a 13th-century Augustinian priory founded in 1253 by Sir John Mansell, a priest's son who became a counsellor to Henry III.
