More about this scene
Newport has a famous school founded in the 17th century. It was one of the schoolboys here, Thomas Brown, who coined the rhyme (about a master): 'I do not love thee, Dr Fell, The reason why I cannot tell, But this I know, and know full well, I do not love thee, Dr Fell'.
