Memorys Of Noneley

A Memory of Noneley.

My name is Tim Hamer, I'm 53 and live in Coventry. My family owned Manyor Farm at Noneley between 1952 and 1962 when we left for the West Country. I remember the Pitt family just down the road, Chris, Steve, and Shelia. The Birch family owned Noneley Hall Farm, Grafton Hall Farm was owned by the Lokiers and Foresters Arms Farm by the Wests. All farms have since changed hands and I don't know who owns them now. I have many happy memories of Noneley, I still have an Auntie and a cousin living in Wem, Irene Filmore and Michael Filmore.

We moved into Manor Farm in Noneley in October 2014, we would be interested in any history of the farm.
I am just starting to do some research into my family tree and have an old photo of my great great great grandfather Edward Tunna and his wife Mary, along with their house which is described on the back as just "Noneley". I've tried finding a recent photo of the house - I hope it is still standing - but have only found a copy of the sale catalogue from 1920 of the Noneley Estate, which consisted of Noneley Hall Farm, occupied by tenants F.W. Tunna and his family and the Manor Farm, occupied by Mrs T. H. Tunna (possibly his sister-in-law). I haven't researched enough of the family to know if these were Edward's offspring, but I can only assume so. If you would like me to send a photo of the house I have from the late 1800s (with a man, I assume Edward Tunna, standing outside) please let me know, as it may be either of those 2 farm houses. It is a mid-Victorian brick house with distinctive stone edging on each corner.
